Kea, 2021

Kea are a large parrot species with a wingspan of about 1 metre. They are one of the most intelligent birds in the world and are found only in NZ. Their curiosity and ability to solve logical puzzles comes in handy in their harsh and rocky sub-alpine habitats throughout the South Island. I've drawn the kea here with Snow Tōtara, also endemic to NZ and found in sub-alpine areas throughout the country and can be a rich source of vegetable fats for the kea.
